Halo: Ghosts of Onyx

So this is the fourth Halo book in the series, and let me tell you something, it made me this much closer to going insane for Halo 3. I mean im already insane, but like SUPER MEGA PWNAGE INSANE. This book really goes beyond the Halo story that we are all usually used to. You know the basic Spartan John 117, hes a total badass and he pwns. Instead it goes to tell the story of the other Spartans including the III'rd generation of spartans. It also goes to talk about the Forerunner planet Onyx, and what was its purpose in the plan of Halo. Basically this novel adds so much more questions and predictions to the future of the Halo universe that its not even funny.

So I definitely recommend picking up a copy of this book, because I know that I was done within a day.(Thats how amazing it is). I even plan on doing a Honors 3 English project on it. = P

About NCNatural

We're often asked, "What's up with you guys?"

The fact is, we're just a couple of folks with a home page that ran amok. And, we love living in North Carolina. We started NCNatural back about 1995 when the idealists among us believed that information wanted to be free. We still believe that, so we try to provide some of the best content for North Carolina nature that we're able to and try to cover our costs with a few book sales and some advertising revenues. The fact is we lose money on every sale, but we make it up in volume.

NCNatural is a side-line and not our full-time jobs, so we don't always update everything as often as you might like us to. We occasionally get tired of it and don't do anything for months at a time. We don't particularly care if we have misspelled words or bad grammer. For the most part, we enjoy it and the people who take the time to get in touch with us.

A few of our other frequently asked questions:

Can I use such and such picture for my website/kid's project/wallpaper/magazine/etc.?

The answer is... maybe. All of our images are © NCNatural/Tim Treadwell unless otherwise noted. We're actually pretty good about loaning out our extensive catalog of pics for non-commercial purposes, but we do like to be asked before you steal them. If you are intent on stealing them, please copy them and place them on your own website rather than linking the images from ours. It is a tremendous drain on our bandwidth. We also appreciate a small mention that you borrowed/stole them from NCNatural.com, with a return link. We really prefer that you ask us if you can borrow the pictures, so we don't get pissed off when we happen upon our pictures on your website.

If you would like to use a photo for commercial purposes, we sell images for a reasonable fee and will scan to your specs. We have a large collection of North Carolina imagery as well as Wildflowers available besides what is on the website, so if you can't find exactly what you are looking for, ask and we may be able to provide it. Please direct all questions concerning the use of images to Tim Treadwell - "birdsong@ncnatural.com".

Could you make a link to my website?

The answer is... maybe. If your website doesn't have something to do with North Carolina though, your odds are significantly worse. They're also not all that good if your site is strictly commercial (we call that "advertising" and we try to get paid for it). If, however, you have content on your personal, non-profit or marginally profitable webpage that has to do with North Carolina and would like to have a link, you stand a decent chance. Send your request to "webmaster@ncnatural.com". Please include in your request what you would like the link to say, and where you think it might logically fit in on our site.

The Coke Effect

Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It’s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant.

* In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.
* 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get it’s hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment)
* 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dialate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.
* 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
* >60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.
* >60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.
* >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.

This will all be followed by a caffeine crash in the next few hours. (As little as two if you’re a smoker.) But, hey, have another Coke, it’ll make you feel better.

*FYI: The Coke itself is not the enemy, here. It’s the dynamic combo of massive sugar doses combined with caffeine and phosphoric acid. Things which are found in almost all soda.

PPP hooked me up!

Wow its been a while since I discovered Pay Per Post. Im actually kind of upset that I haven't been exploiting this cash cow to the full extent of its abilities. I remember that time almost Half a year ago, when I first read about Payperpost on www.Digg.com.
I definitely thought this was another scam to trick people into wasting time, but surprisingly it was not. The funny thing was that I was always a little hesitant toward these kinds of offers especially since my childhood, when I tried making a fortune by getting paid to "surf the net". Yeah 14 cent fortune my ass, and a shit load of time wasted. Surprisingly I have made around 160 dollars from PPP and plan on making ALOT more = P. This money definitely helped fuel my new car radio purchase, and other products, including the HDTV receiver I talked about previously. If only they made the waiting time for your money a lot shorter = P. Id really like to get paid a lot sooner, and use the cash rite away = P. So in closing statements, if you haven't signed up for PPP yet go make a blog and do so. Oh and in closing statements *pounds fist* *air thrust* PayPerPost

HD-TV SCORE!

Now this isn't really concerning the 37inch and 42inch LCD HD-TV's we picked up durring black friday. Its actually something im even more excited about. Hd-Tv for my notebook. I got my Popular Science issue yesterday and one of the projects was...HDTV on ur laptop. So i got online and I was searching for the ArtecTv notebook reciever which was listed at 100 bucks, but I found a set for around 60 dollars. So now I will be able to use my laptop as a Tivo to record and watch tv shows in HDTV for free. I still dont believe that they broadcast free signals, because I would expect everyone to mooche off of those instead of paying for cable and crap like that. I hope this reciever works in Europe or our school too, then I can watch tv durring school = P. OH yea another update, GamersFactory @ ebay is a duesche. Dont by stuff from him or ur products will ship to you defective. FUCK YOU GAMERS FACTORY!!!! U dont deserve to be called that u mofo n00b.

PPP Love

I really love love love PayPerPost.com Its the perfect way for a slacker like me to make money by doing almost absolutely nothing. The fact of the matter is that I really don't wanna get a low wage shitty job pushing carts at a store or flipping burgers at mickey d's. But...as a nerd I definitely need a supply of cash flowing towards my way. Theres so much supplies that I have to gather every month, such as new Wii games or new Xbox 360 titles, and other random eBay purchases. Its a pretty fun thing to do also, I mean usually I wouldn't find any profitable reason to write a blog other than to share your day to the rest of the world, but now I get paid to rant, rave, and discover new websites via PayPerPost. Over the whole time i've been with PayPerPost, Ive made about 160 dollars, which is a pretty good income for only spending about 10 minutes every so often. This truly is a great service, and its a wonder how they even stay in business, because it honostly seems too good to be true, because even my friends didn't believe I would get paid until i finally showed em the mulah. Now I've convinced like 4 friends to sign up for PayPerPost. Thank You PayPerPost! You pay for my stuff!

Update...its been a while

So in recent news the biggest upcoming news has had to have been the Halo 3 commercial. In one word....it was: Godlike. Ive probably seen it over 50 times now, and i still get chills running down my spine. Bungie has definitely portrayed Master Chief as a way more badass dude as ever previously thought. Another wonderful thing about the commercial was the way it spawned so much controversy and debate over every little thing. Such as who the young kids at the begging were, how the so-called "bubble grenade" would affect gameplay, and even conspiracy theories that the commercial sounded different if you played it backwards. While the Wii may be fun, and the PS3 may be the fastest processor machine, the Xbox is definitely the winner with Halo 3.

Thats about it, hopefully ill post more often now that my schedule has emptied out a bit.
